Fashion Week Favorites
This fashion week was a little bit different for me. Whether I am working, volunteering, or just attending shows, I always try to make it to New York Fashion Week and have had the opportunity to do so for the last nine seasons. This season was a little bit different for both good reasons and bad. I was very happy to have gotten to see some shows from designers that I love and envy but have never gotten the chance to see at Fashion Week. Unfortunately, the weather was not in my favor. As most of you may know, there was a blizzard on the first day of NYFW and the snow made it difficult to even leave my house. Since I live on Long Island it was pretty impossible to get to the city so I missed about three fashion shows that day, but I was still very happy with what I was able to see. Now lets talk about my favorites! Veronica Beard I first discovered the brand back in October and I instantly fell in love. Not even knowing that Veronica herself was from Long Island, I was stunned by how she was able to recreate your typical blazer. I love wearing blazers to dress up an outfit, especially when going on an interview or for a formal event. This was the perfect presentation to go to for many different ways to wear a blazer and also for many different types. I also loved the way the brand announced their launch of jeans and shoes. When each guest would arrive they would be handed a small ‘flip book’ that read “WE’RE FLIPPING OUT”. Inside you would flip the pages to the end and it would look like a model is slipping on a pair of Veronica Beard jeans and shoes. I was definitely impressed with this presentation and I hope to attend again next year. Badgley Mischka This show was like nothing I have ever seen before. From the couture to the production of the show, everything was executed perfectly. To start off, I loved how the show was planned out. When you entered the room there were a bunch of models sitting around the new ‘Badgley Mischka Home Collection’ which consisted of chairs, tables, and decor. Minutes later the lights dimmed and the models came out one by one in gorgeous gowns, dresses, and jumpsuits. As those models exited the stage the models sitting in the center with the home decor stood up and walked in the brands sport collection. I have never gotten the opportunity to see a Badgley Mischka fashion show so I didn’t know what to expect. The color schemes and patterns used on the garments were blowing my mind and each piece that entered the runway was better than the last. Not only was the show planned out to perfection, I was thrilled to be able to see the home collection first hand. I can not wait to get my hands on some of the new home pieces! Everything about this show was breathtaking, you could definitely tell that a lot of time and effort went into it, bravo!
